Ms.Zanger's Class
Our class is learning so much and having such a fun and exciting school year. We look forward to learning more over the next few months. Thank you for all the support you give your child. This has been an amazing school year so far, and I am truly delighted with the amazing group of first graders I have in class this year. They have done a great job!

What are we Learning About?
Reading- In reading groups we are continuing to work on sight words. We are also working on blended sounds in words and reading with expression and fluency.

Writing- We are learning how to write a How To Book. We have listened to many How To stories, and now, we are working at choosing something we know how to do, such as tie our shoes, brush our teeth, etc and then writing a How To Book about that. Soon we will be writing All About Books, and then we will enjoy a unit on poetry and learn how to write some poems of our own.

Math- In math, we learned alot about measurement, volume and weight. Now we are moving back into addition and subtraction and are enjoying many games and activities dealing with addition and subtraction and story problems.

Social Studies-In Social Studies, we are working on our Geography unit. We are looking at maps and globes and finding lots of different places and learning the uses of maps and globes. We are also anxiously awaiting the arrival of our "Flat Stanleys" and finding out the fun adventures they have had.

Science- We will beginning a new unit on plants next week. We will learn the parts of a plant, how plants grow, seeds travel, etc. And we will be growing some plants of our own as well.
